Welcome to Here's Williamsburg!

We hope that this will become your go-to blog for everything Williamsburg-related, from food to history to business openings and closings, to exclusive scoops that you won't find anywhere else.

Like at our sister site, Here's Park Slope, we're out walking the neighborhood beat nearly every day, speaking to local business owners and keeping track of the goings-on in the area. Think of us as the person at the party who somehow knows everything that's happening.

Soon in this space you'll begin to notice exclusive coupons and offers for local businesses, as well as a few other surprises down the road. So follow us on Twitter and Facebook (links are to the left), and check in every day for local scoops as well as business profiles, interviews with bartenders, foodporn, and some history.

Looking forward to having you along for the ride!

Open for Business: Evolve, 155 Grand Street

The evolution of modern travel is upon us. Evolve, Williamsburg's first Motor Scooter store, has just rolled into town with their swanky, affordable, 100% electric bikes. For as cheap at $2900, you too, can own your own motor scooter. Because they are electric, you plug them straight into the wall, the everyday outlets we use for our electronics, charge them for about three hours, and you can travel up to 60 miles.

As much as it is a showroom, owner Lex (Alex Kendell) wants the space to been seen as a kind of community center. He plans on turning the walls into a gallery where he'll feature local artists and Evolve is going to be throwing small parties in the showroom as time goes on. There is actually going to be one next week, but the date hasn't been solidified yet. You'll know when I know. So, if you're tired of riding your bike or skateboard, need to go that extra distance, head into Evolve and set up a test drive.

One of his bikes can go up to 70 miles per hour, "Yeah, it's a beast," while the smaller one is capped at 30 mph - which is actually a great buy for the neighborhood because, as Lex said, "We're trying to make it easy, you don't need a license for this guy."
