Welcome to Here's Williamsburg!

We hope that this will become your go-to blog for everything Williamsburg-related, from food to history to business openings and closings, to exclusive scoops that you won't find anywhere else.

Like at our sister site, Here's Park Slope, we're out walking the neighborhood beat nearly every day, speaking to local business owners and keeping track of the goings-on in the area. Think of us as the person at the party who somehow knows everything that's happening.

Soon in this space you'll begin to notice exclusive coupons and offers for local businesses, as well as a few other surprises down the road. So follow us on Twitter and Facebook (links are to the left), and check in every day for local scoops as well as business profiles, interviews with bartenders, foodporn, and some history.

Looking forward to having you along for the ride!

Coming Soon: DB Southside, 138 Havemeyer Street

A few weeks ago, Here's Williamsburg reported, via a heavily accented construction worker, that a new bar would be coming to Havemeyer between South 1st and South 2nd Streets. Over the weekend, the building was painted and as of today, the crew has made drastic headway on the facade. I walked passed 138 Havemeyer Street this afternoon and saw a sign posted on the window that said the establishment is seeking its license to serve liquor, beer and wine and there will be a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 3rd, at 6:30 PM at 435 Graham Avenue, with the public safety committee to address any concerns the neighborhood may have with the new bar.

It seems a bit risky to be applying for a liquor license after the space is nearly complete, but hopefully it'll all work out. BD Southside is only a few short storefronts away from Banter Bar on the corner of South 1st, and directly across the street from the Satellite Lounge, not to mention the Post Office at South 4th and High Horse Saloon at Hope Street, all on Havemeyer Street. Havemeyer is really starting to shape-up as the new boozing block.
